About:
Mission:
The Texas Jail Association was formed on June 4, 1986, in Austin, Texas. The organization's main objective is to provide a distinct and unified voice for corrections officers working in local jails. TJA's - membership is comprised of Jail Administrators, Corrections Officers, Sheriffs, Support Staff, and other interested parties of the corrections profession in Texas. TJA strives to accomplish the following goals:
To bring together those concerned with or interested in the professional operation and administration of jails in the state of Texas;
To advance professionalism through training, technical assistance, publications, peer interactions, and conferences;
To provide leadership in the development of professional standards, management practices, programs, and services, and
To advance the interests, needs, and concerns of the membership.
Conferences:
The Texas Jail Association focuses on professional training for its members. The Association offers two Conferences per year with topics including but not limited to the following:
Texas Commission on Jail Standards Updates
Texas Department of Criminal Justice Updates
Legal Issues for Jails
Texas Legislative Updates
Jail Security Issues
Current & Future Jail Concerns
Medical Issues in Corrections
Career and Personal Growth Education
Regional training is provided by the Association in partnership with the Texas Association of Counties and the Texas Commission on Jail Standards several times per year throughout the state. This training provides additional opportunities to learn valuable information about the corrections profession.
Participants receive the appropriate TCOLE credit for each training program attended.
Sponsorship Opportunities:
One way to convey your support of TJA is to sponsor a conference event for the attendees. Sponsorships of these events allow TJA to spend our dollars during the year on vital educational training for our membership.
Sponsors of these events will be recognized in accordance with the designations on the following page. Events will be assigned on first come, first served basis. The previous year’s sponsors of signature events have first right of refusal for that event. Indicate choice by placing a number in the corresponding blank with #1 being first choice.
Conference Opportunities:
TJA offers many vendor opportunities at their two major annual conferences, the TJA Annual Conference and the Jail Management Issues (JMI) Conference. TJA conferences have high attendence rates and vendors have many chances to make contact with these attendees. These opportunities include:
Exhibitor Booth:
Purchasing an exhibit booth will include three full conference registrations and a 6 foot draped table to set up in the conference Exhibit Hall. All breakfast and refreshment breaks will be held inside the Exhibit Hall. There will also be a reception and dedicated exhibition times to give all conference exhibitors plenty of opportunities to be exposed to conference attendees. All exhibitors are also welcome to attend all conference functions.
Sponsorship:
Conference exhibitors or even those who are not able to attend also have the option of event sponsorship. These events may include receptions, entertainment, and refreshment breaks. Sponsors are given special recognition in the conference workbook and through large signage that will be present at the sponsored event.
Door Prizes:
Door prizes are another great way to reach out to attendees without attending the conference.
