About the American Optometric Association (AOA):

The American Optometric Association is the leading authority on quality care and an advocate for our nation's health, representing more than 44,000 doctors of optometry (O.D.), optometric professionals and optometry students. Doctors of optometry take a leading role in patient care with respect to eye and vision care, as well as general health and well-being. As primary health care providers, doctors of optometry have extensive, ongoing training to examine, diagnose, treat and manage ocular disorders, diseases and injuries and systemic diseases that manifest in the eye. Doctors of optometry provide more than two-thirds of primary eye care in the U.S.

About AOSA:

The AOSA represents more than 6,600 students attending the 23 schools and colleges of optometry throughout the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Each school has a unique AOSA chapter which works hard to raise thousands of dollars for community outreach and dedicates hundreds of hours in community service. Each school is represented on the AOSA Board by a Trustee and Trustee-Elect. These individuals are some of the hardest-working optometry students at all the schools. They have a deep passion for optometry and work to keep students informed about issues important to aspiring optometric physicians. Most importantly, these individuals work to be a channel of communication between the schools and the AOSA.
