About GRC

The Gordon Research Conferences provide an international forum for the presentation and discussion of frontier research in the biological, chemical, physical and engineering sciences and their interfaces.

GRC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building communities that advance the frontiers of science.  Our conferences bring a global network of scientists together to discuss the latest pre-publication research in their field.  GRC's unique format focuses on discussion and provides conferees with the opportunity to network informally during free afternoon times.

Since it was founded in 1931, GRC has established a prestigious reputation for creating enduring scientific communities that advance the frontiers of research in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and related technologies.

GRC organizes over 300 Gordon Research Conferences (GRCs) and Gordon Research Seminars (GRSs) per year, each highlighting the latest, cutting-edge research in fields ranging from physics to neurobiology, material science and engineering, to medicine.

Whether you attend a GRC or a GRS, Gordon Research Conferences is well known for the discussions that take place after each scientific talk, where conference attendees debate the ideas presented to foster a dynamic scientific exchange. Each conference is limited to 200 attendees; scientists must apply to the  conference and be selected by the conference chair to attend the meeting.  All conferees are active participants in their community and contribute to moving the frontiers of the field forward.

Conference Description

The Gordon Research Seminar on Natural Products and Bioactive Compounds is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

This research seminar will highlight multi-disciplinary topics related to the chemistry and biology of natural products and bioactive compounds. We strongly encourage the submission of abstracts related to organic synthesis, methodology development, chemical biology, biosynthesis, synthetic biology, and biological activity.

This program will include pioneering student and post doc talks chosen from submitted abstracts, an influential keynote speaker, and a career breakout session with mentors from a variety of different career paths.

Program Format

Gordon Research Seminars are 2-day meetings which take place on the Saturday and Sunday just prior to the start of the associated GRC. The GRS opens with a 1-hour introductory session on Saturday afternoon, followed by a poster session, dinner and a 2-hour session in the evening. Sunday morning begins with breakfast and is followed by another 2-hour session, a second poster session, and lunch. A final 1-hour session takes place just after lunch, and the associated GRC begins later that evening.
