About NAOSMM

Who we are
Founded in 1974, NAOSMM has grown to include 500 members in the scientific industry. Members are from teaching, research, and industrial fields, and are involved in purchasing, receiving, warehousing, distribution, and inventory control of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, glassware and plasticware, instrumentation, and environmental health and safety. Typical positions held by our members include laboratory managers, storeroom managers, teaching lab coordinators, purchasing and/or procurement personnel, and business managers.

What we do
Even though our members include representatives from universities, colleges, manufacturers, research laboratories, and pharmaceutical companies (to name a few!), we all have one thing in common: we have unique questions for which we seek workable answers. NAOSMM allows us to exchange ideas, information, contacts, and leads with others who understand our challenges and can offer solutions.

We accomplish this goal through several different avenues:

- Annual Conference and Trade Show: Each summer NAOSMM hosts a conference and trade show with workshops that will help keep you abreast of current topics, trends and issues at the forefront of our industry. Recent workshop topics have included government regulations, handing of hazardous materials, proper waste disposal, inventory control, and laboratory renovations. Personal development programs are also offered. The associated trade show has approximately 70 vendors, and allows members to meet with vendor representatives and preview new products.

The 46th annual NAOSMM conference and tradeshow will be held July 28 - August 2nd, 2019, at The Sheraton Station Square on the banks of the Monongahela River in the amazing, innovative city of Pittsburgh. PA!

The program sessions and trade show are going to be excellent: the professional aspects of the conference will be relevant, informative --even inspiring! The opportunities to network with vendors and colleagues and the relationships that come from them are truly priceless—every member has something to contribute and something to gain.

* Two full days of education and professional development in Pittsburgh
The educational seminars and Q&A sessions will explore best practices for lab safety, purchasing, and management.

* Two half-days exclusively for trade show and vendor interaction
The exclusive time set aside for the trade show allows you to interact with sales representatives and see new products and innovations.

* Network with peers in academia, research and industry
NAOSMM is a welcoming group whose members are eager to network and learn from each other as well as our invited speakers.
The camaraderie with peers is a priceless benefit and has drawn many members back to conferences year after year.
Receptions and evening activities provide opportunity for continued networking and learning with peers and vendors.

It is easy to use and reasonably priced. The desk staff and driver were very friendly and full of information. If you are driving, there is secure parking at the hotel with in/out privileges. A lower-rate lot is available across the river if you don’t need the in/out amenity. Amtrak and MegaBus also serve Pittsburgh. In July, the city and rivers will be bustling with summertime festivities and greenery.
